Celebrating Victoria’s public and community housing renters and their pets

Pets At Our Place honours the special bond between renters and their beloved pets.

The calendar shows the variety of pets living in public and community housing. It celebrates the psychological, physical and social benefits of pet ownership.

It is also a way to recognise renters' commitment to fostering a sense of community with the help of their furry, feathery and scaley pets (and everything in between!).

We thank everyone who shared their pet stories with us. We also congratulate the 12 successful entrants who feature in this year's calendar.

We thank the following organisations for encouraging renters to enter the competition:

  • local housing offices
  • community housing organisations
  • the Victorian Public Tenants Association.

Where you can get a calendar

You can get a 2026 calendar from your local housing office and select community housing organisations. The calendars are not for individual sale. You can also download a digital copy at Pets At Our Place calendar.

Entrants who appear on the 2026 calendar

Trish and Minnie the Dachshund

Warrnambool / Gunditjmara

‘Minnie’s a toss-up between a cat and a dog, and she’ll give you a hug and kiss when you need it the most. We roll balls back and forth to each other, I hide toys in her bedding for her to dig and find, and we play hide and seek. She’s such a joy.’

Trish and Minnie the Daschund

Lynette and Bev, Sky and Ice the budgies, and Furball the cat

West Footscray / Bunurong Country

‘I love my animals, and enjoy their company so much. The birds are so nice to have in the home, with the chitter chatter in the background.’

Marcia and Buddy the Cat

St Kilda / Bunurong Country

‘I love Buddy very much. He sleeps with me at night and keeps me warm. He sits on the couch with me to watch television and I love that.’
