In every community there are special people who reach out, lend a hand and get involved to make a positive difference to the lives of others. Such as the quiet achiever who helps build a community garden, the neighbour who advocates for your rights or someone who shares a special skill. It could also be a person who builds friendships in the community by organising social activities or doing odd jobs to help elderly neighbours live independently.
Whatever they do, let's make it official and recognise all their hard work.
Nominations are now open
If you know a tenant or group of tenants who have made an outstanding contribution to their community nominate them for a Social Housing Volunteer Award.
Awards fall into two categories:
- Frances Penington award - celebrates an individual public or community housing tenant, or a group of tenants, who have made an outstanding voluntary contribution to their community.
- Molly Hadfield award - honours outstanding services to older tenants.
Nominations close on Monday 30 September 2019.
Award recipients will be announced at a special ceremony in December. Nominees will also be invited to attend this ceremony and receive a certificate of recognition.
