1.1 Modified Housing Standards

The Office of Housing recognises the additional and diverse requirements of people with a disability and has developed accommodation standards that enable their conditions of everyday life to be the same as, or as close as possible to, the norms and patterns which are valued in the general community. To achieve this many of the features of the Australian Standards for Adaptable Housing (AS4299) and Design for Access and Mobility (AS1428) have been incorporated into the requirements of the Modified Housing Standards.
