1.2 Leasing Standards

The Office of Housing leases properties from the private rental market for use as transitional and public housing. The advantage of leasing properties is that it enables a quick and flexible short to medium term response to client needs in localities where it may be difficult or inappropriate to acquire properties in the long-term.

The Leasing Standards provide the policy framework for Office of Housing leasing activities. Leased properties must provide a safe and secure environment and must comply with all legal, regulatory and code requirements.

The Leasing Standards have been developed reflecting Office of Housing and legal requirements, as well as recognising current industry practice.
