1.1 Purchasing Standards

The Office of Housing purchases both established and newly constructed properties on the open real estate market for community housing clients, for those with special needs and for rental general stock. The advantage of spot purchasing properties is that it enables a quick and flexible response to client needs.

The Purchase Standards provide the policy framework for Office of Housing purchasing activities. Spot purchased properties should be suitable for their intended purpose and incorporated into the rental stream as quickly as possible, in accordance with the Office of Housing Reletting Standards.

The Purchase Standards have been developed reflecting Office of Housing and legal requirements, as well as recognising current industry practice.
