Housing Standards Policy Manual

The Housing Standards Policy manual sets out housing standards policy applicable to all properties under the care, management and funding of Housing & Community Building, with the intent of providing a framework for cost effective and practical standards for all Housing & Community Building properties.

Standards Exemption Application Form (Word Size: 69kb, Pages 1) is used to apply for exemptions to the below Housing Standards Policy Manual.

Chapters

The Housing Standards Policy Manual consists of twelve chapters. Each chapter is intended to be "stand alone", addressing the specific needs of the subject asset management activity, with references to other chapters and documents where appropriate.

Chapter 01 Purchase Standards
Standards which facilitate the acquisition of appropriate, quality homes for public housing.

Chapter 02 Construction Standards
Standards for new housing construction which include energy efficiency and accessibility elements and principles.

Chapter 03 Reletting Standards
Returning vacant properties to an appropriate level of amenity for public housing allocation.

Chapter 04 Maintenance Standards
Standards for maintaining tenanted properties at an appropriate level of amenity.

Chapter 05 Improvement Standards (Currently not available)
Standards for improving the quality and level of amenity for existing public housing through programmed upgrading activities.

Chapter 06 Community Housing Standards
Standards for singles and older persons' housing, group and transitional housing, supported accommodation and rooming houses.

Chapter 07 Leasing Standards
Standards for the leasing of residential properties from the private rental market for use as transitional and public housing.

Chapter 08 Disposal Standards (Currently not available)
Standard for safe and secure disposal of Housing and Community Building stock that is not longer required for public and community housing.

Chapter 09 Housing Agency Accommodation Amenity Guide (Currently not available)
Standards to set out Director of Housing preferences for the construction of Housing & Community Building funded Registered Housing Agency developments.

Chapter 10 Modified Housing Standards
Standards for amenity to promote independent living for people with additional housing needs due to medical condition or disability.

Chapter 11 Community Facility Standards (Currently not available)
Standards for Community Facilities constructed, maintained and improved by Housing & Community Building.

Chapter 12 Multi-Storey Construction Standards (Currently not available)
Standards for new multi-storey housing construction consisting of two or more storeys which include energy efficiency and accessibility elements and principles.

Environmentally Sustainable Design Standards
A range of environmentally sustainable initiatives to reduce environmental impacts and utility costs to tenants while improving building performance and comfort levels.
