Moving
If you want to move out of your home, you must advise your Housing Services officer in writing, explaining when you?ll be leaving. Your letter should be received at least 28 days before you leave.
Remember to leave your home clean and tidy. If there?s rubbish or mess left after you go, you may be charged for cleaning it up. If you have made alterations to your home without the Office of Housing's approval, you might be required to remove them when you leave or to pay for their removal. You can ask your local housing officer whether you need to do this.
Moving out urgently
If you need to move out of your home urgently, please contact your Housing Services Officer before you do to discuss your needs and accommodation options.
Moving to a different house
If your circumstances change, your home might not be right for you any more. You can apply to transfer to another home instead.
You can also swap your house with another tenant who wants to swap their house with yours. Your local Housing Office has a list of tenants throughout Victoria who want to swap homes.
To find out more about this, ask your local Housing Office.
Moving while work is done on my house
Sometimes we redevelop houses, to upgrade them or to fix problems.
If there are improvement works to be done to your home, we may move you to new accommodation while the work is done. When the work is finished, you may have the option to move back again. If this happens, we will arrange and pay for all your relocation costs.
We will give you plenty of notice if your home is on this program.
If you are going to be away from your home for a period of time you must also let us know.
