Maintenance and improvements
The Office of Housing is required to keep your home in good condition. Any tenant requiring maintenance to be completed should contact the Housing Call Centre to report their maintenance request. The time taken to complete repairs will be dependant on how urgent the maintenance issue is.
As a tenant you also have a responsibility to look after your home and complete the smaller routine repairs, such as replacing light bulbs. While the Office of Housing will pay the cost of repairs to your home that are caused by accident or due to fair wear and tear, tenants are responsible for the cost of neglect or intentional damage by members of the household and visitors.
As part of your overall home maintenance it is important that you look after your smoke alarms by keeping them clean and testing them weekly.
You will also need to contact your local housing office to ask permission before you make any modifications to your home, such as adding a satellite dish.
