Homelessness and family violence
People experiencing homelessness not only need a roof over their head, but practical support to help them overcome the issues that can cause homelessness.
Do you need help?
If you are homeless, at risk of homelessness or escaping family violence, you can contact your nearest crisis support centre for assistance or you may wish to apply for housing.
Government's response
The Victorian and Commonwealth Governments have implemented a number of strategies and frameworks to address the issue of homelessness. Under these policies a number of programs have been established, some of which cater to particularly vulnerable groups such as young homeless people, people escaping family violence and people from Indigenous backgrounds.
The Victorian Government, through the Office of Housing, also works directly with not-for-profit service providers to strengthen their capacity to deliver efficient and effective homelessness support services.
